Lockdown 3: Applying Hair colour at home
Here we are again colouring our hair at home, lets hope it wont be long before we are back in the salon together, but until then I hope that my colour boxes and the following instructions will help you to feel a little bit more like “you” during this challenging time….
Step 1. Familiarise yourself with my video (at the end of these steps!), put on your towel, disposable gown and gloves then mix your hair colour, find a mirror and a comfortable spot ready to begin.
Step 2. Comb your hair away from your face revealing your hairline and your re-growth, this should be an obvious line. Then with a small amount of colour on your brush start to paint your regrowth, being careful not to overlap (especially if using blondes) if possible.
Step 3. Once you have completed your hairline part your hair down the middle, apply the colour to the regrowth as far back as you can manage ( this is where husbands/children may come in handy!!)
Step 4. Next part the left hand side from the middle part to your ear, apply colour and then repeat on the opposite side. you will then have 4 sections.
Step 5. Working through the front left hand section, take diagonal sections and apply colour to the re growth area, repeat this on the right hand side and then through the back two sections, the back will obviously be a little harder, but just remember it doesn’t have to be perfect this is just to make you feel a little better until I can do it properly for you!
Step 6. When you have finished leave you hair to develop for 35 mins, if you are applying colour to the ends please don’t worry about overlapping from re-growth to previously coloured hair. The ends do not need as long as the re growth, 10-15 mins.
Step 7. If using a dark colour please ensure you loosen the tint around your hairline with water before shampooing, rub the tint to remove it (the idea is that only tint removes tint) then shampoo twice and condition, I highly recommend the Natulique shampoos and conditioners to pro long your hair colour.
